  • How many people are on a tour with me?
  • On the Rhine, Main and Danube Cruises, our 3 vessels hold on average 164 passengers. On the Rhine and Rhone Cruises our 2 vessels hold 142 passengers. On our Immersive Land Journeys and City Stays Programs our average group size is 30 passengers.

  • What is the standard of hotels we will be staying at?
  • Our impressive hotels are located in great locations. Featuring exceptional amenities and appointments, they provide the perfect retreat and base for exploring. Our hotels are handpicked for the outstanding levels of service they provide.

  • What are the Travel Directors like?
  • Our Cruise Directors are deservedly known as being the very best in all of Europe. These friendly professionals have impressive local knowledge to do what the guide books can’t. They can provide personalised information and suggestions so you can enjoy a holiday experience you simply could not have on your own. Throughout your cruise, your Travelmarvel Cruise Director will be present to personally help you with any need that might arise, on board or ashore. They will ensure your holiday experience is seamless.

  • What are different trip styles?

  • What happens if I’m travelling alone? Is there an extra charge?
  • On particular departures we do offer a pay no solo supplement. On our river cruising program port details are available via our website if required.

  • Can I request special dietary meals?
  • Yes, this will need to be advised at time of booking.

  • How much luggage can I bring?
  • 20kg suitcases and 7kg carry one luggage.

  • Are tips included?
  • On all Travelmarvel cruises and tours, tipping is included in your tour price. This applies to your Cruise Director, Tour Director, Drivers, Local Guides and ship crew.

  • Do I need any vaccinations?
  • Visit your doctor or a travel clinic before you travel for advice.

  • What are Optional Experiences and when do I purchase them?
  • Travelmarvel allows you to further immerse yourself in Europe’s fascinating destinations with our range of select experiences. Perhaps attend an exquisite classical music concert in Vienna or traverse the scenic Romantic Road from Würzburg to Rothenburg. When in Paris, head to the legendary Moulin Rouge for dinner and a spectacular performance.

  • Can I use my electrical appliances?
  • Travel Irons are not permitted onboard our cruises.

  • Are airport transfers provided?
  • As part of our compressive inclusions, airport transfers are included.

  • Will I be travelling with people from other countries
  • Travelmarvel is sold out of the Australian, New Zealand and United Kingdom Markets.

  • Will I have time on my own?
  • Every Travelmarvel holiday is designed with your enjoyment in mind. All cruises and tours provide the perfect balance of inclusions and free time, so while we’ll take you to the must-see sights and the hidden gems, you’ll never feel rushed. You’ll also enjoy the freedom and flexibility to explore more of Europe in your own time.

  • Will the coach/ ship be modern and comfortable?
  • Our impressive luxury river ships feature impeccable staterooms and suites, most with a French Balcony.   • All of our hotels have been carefully selected and all offer air conditioned rooms.

  • Can I book a group?

  • Do I need Travel Insurance?
  • Travel protection and luggage insurance are highly recommended. We suggest you purchase a travel protection plan that covers trip cancellation for medical reason, trip delay, medical expenses, accidental death, lost luggage, medical; evacuation and airline cancellation changes under a variety of circumstances.

  • Will I need a passport?
  • All valid passport is required for international travel. Most countries insist that your passport be valid for at least six-months after your date of return.

  • Will I need a visa?
  • It is the responsibility of the traveller to secure the required visas before leaving home.

  • When will I receive my documents for my Holiday?
  • Travelmarvel will dispatch your travel documents 6 weeks prior to your departure date.

  • Porterage service is provided.

  • How do I change my currency?
  • We recommend setting up a travel card before departing to use at ATM’s throughout Europe. Currency can be exchanged at airport and currency exchange outlets.

  • Can I bring a wheelchair on my trip?
  • Please contract our reservations team to discuss.

  • What type of outfits do I pack and will I need formal attire?
  • Our tours are a relaxed atmosphere and dress is informal. We recommend packing for comfort and taking along some steady walking shoes to combat those traditional cobbles stone streets. Using layers is recommended as the weather can vary from the far north to the south. Rain and windproof jackets are recommended and good walking shows for walking tours.

  • Must I know the native languages of the countries I am visiting?
  • Europeans learn English at a young age, but the older generation will lack in this area. When in the cities and towns are local guides can assist.

  • Can I have laundry done?
  • Onboard laundry service is available on river cruises at an extra cost.

  • How can I keep in touch with family and friends?
  • Wi-Fi is available onboard our ships. If you don’t have your own computer, you don’t have to worry as our ships provide comfortable internet stations for your use. At all of our hotels Wi-Fi is available.

  • Is there seat rotation?
  • On tours — Yes.

  • Can I drink the water in the countries I will visit on my trip?
  • You will be advised when this possible, we do provided unlimited water bottles on our cruise ship.

  • Is smoking allowed on the coach?
  • No.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive Amsterdam, Embark Ship

Fly into Amsterdam and transfer to your premium river ship. Perhaps grab a map to explore this carefree, cosmopolitan city. This evening meet your Cruise Director and fellow passengers at a Captain′s Welcome Reception.

Day 2 - Amsterdam, Utrecht

Board a glass-top boat and glide through Amsterdam′s maze of waterways with a local guide before enjoying some free time to explore this lively city. Later travel by coach to Utrecht, via Rembrandt′s Windmill. From here, your ship will set off along the Rhine as you prepare for tonight′s special Gala Dinner.

Day 3 - Cologne, Bruhl

Learn how the twin spires of Cologne′s famous cathedral, the Kolner Dom, took over six centuries to complete as you cruise into this picturesque city. Disembark and take the short drive to Bruhl, where you will enjoy an Insider Experience.

Day 4 - Rhine Gorge, Rudesheim

Dock in Rudesheim, and board the Winzerexpress mini-train, bound for Siegfried′s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum.

Day 5 - Miltenberg

Discover Miltenberg′s half-timbered buildings dating from the 15th to 18th century.

Day 6 - Wurzburg

Board a coach and travel through the rolling hills to Wurzburg. Admire the Baroque palace and walk through the beautiful Court Garden. Later, perhaps enjoy an optional visit to medieval Rothenburg.

Day 7 - Bamberg

Cruise along the last stretch of the Main River before arriving at Bamberg. Here choose between an afternoon of free time or a guided tour. Later on this evening, your ship will reach the Main-Danube Canal.

Day 8 - Nuremberg

Explore Nuremberg, the site of Hitler′s now infamous rallies. Wander the cobblestone streets discovering hidden boutiques and artisan stores. Finish your day cruising through the Main-Danube Canal, crossing Europe′s Continental Divide thanks to the canal′s 16 stair-step locks.

Day 9 - Regensburg

Having reached the Danube River overnight, Regensburg awaits. Spend the day in this charming city, docked right in the heart of town, and join a guided walking tour to see its major sights.

Day 10 - Passau

As you enjoy your breakfast, arrive in the ′Three Rivers City′ of Passau, where the rivers Inn and Ilz join the Danube. Today you can take part in a morning walking tour, or grab a bike and set out to explore. Alternatively, join an optional tour to Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic, or travel to Salzburg and enjoy the sights from ′The Sound of Music′.

Day 11 - Melk, Durnstein

Join a local guide to see Melk Abbey, an active Benedictine monastery since 1089. Cruise through the picturesque Wachau Valley, then continue to Durnstein, where you have a free afternoon to explore.

Day 12 - Vienna

In Vienna join a walking tour of St Stephen′s Cathedral, the Graben, Hofburg Palace and the Albertina. This evening, perhaps enjoy an optional concert featuring music from Mozart to The Sound of Music.

Day 13 - Vienna

Today you decide on how to shape your experience in glorious Vienna. Perhaps visit the Hofburg area and the Imperial Treasury, or head to a cosy coffee house where you can try a traditional sachertorte. Otherwise, embark on an optional excursion, visiting Schonbrunn Palace, or head to Bratislava to discover soviet history.

Day 14 - Budapest

After breakfast, the history and charm of Budapest are illuminated as a local guide leads you through the city. After a Captain′s Farewell Dinner, set off on a magical twilight cruise through the glittering heart of Budapest.

Day 15 - Disembark Ship, Depart Budapest

After breakfast disembark and transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
